Don’t Curse the Darkness…It Could Actually Be Your Protective Covering

Now the Lord provided a huge fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. – Jonah 1:17 (NIV)

Do you feel like you are in a dark place amidst your situation? Do you feel that you are all alone? Are you wondering where God is located while you await His deliverance? You have cried out to Him, but to no avail. It appears that a reprieve is no where in sight.

As Jonah was in the belly of the fish, it was a time of extreme darkness. God used the belly of the fish as a means to put His protective shield over Jonah. It was meant not only to protect him from others, but to protect him from himself. You see, since Jonah was on the run from submitting to God’s call on his life, he was making one poor decision after another. Jonah had to undergo an incubation period until he got his heart in alignment with God’s will for his life.

As a born again believer, no matter how dark your situation appears, you never have to question God’s presence in your life. As Christ took all our sins upon himself to the cross, God turned His back once and for all so that we never have to experience separation from Him. Refrain from cursing the darkness…it could actually be God’s protective covering over your life.

Lord, I thank You for the darkness amidst the situation in my life which is actually serving as a protective covering. I trust that You know exactly what is necessary to protect me from others and to keep me from making poor decisions under pressure.
