Smell the Roses

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. – Romans 1:20 (NASB)

Would you agree that actions speak louder than words? In a relationship, a person can talk all day long but unless actions reinforce the speech they are merely empty words. Observing a person’s actions generally is the quickest way to learn more about his or her character.

Similarly so, if we want to learn more about God’s character we must observe His actions. Creation is a mark of God’s handiwork that tells so much about His character. For instance, as we consider our water source it is evident that not only is He a good God but He is a mighty provider. Without Him putting His Word into action it would just be meaningless random letters on a page.

Have you taken time today to thank God for His mighty creation? I know this may sound cliché but take time to smell the “roses” in your life. Many times we are so consumed with staking a claim to created things that we fail to acknowledge the one who made all this possible. Creation was not made solely for our convenience and comfort but for us to realize what a good God He is and thus draw nearer to Him.

Lord, I thank You that You strategically placed things in creation so that I could observe Your amazing characteristics and thus be drawn closer to You.
