Dealing With Anxiety?

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

Do you or someone you know battle with feelings of anxiety? Anxiety is defined as a pattern of constant worry over many different activities and events. Anxiety invokes a fight or flight response within the individual that causes one to overreact, even in the calmest of external circumstances. On a positive note, it is said that less than half of the things that plague our thoughts never actually occur.

Anxiety when full blown can lead to panic attacks. To the individual, this is a very real occurrence although it typically manifests itself in the midst of non-life threatening circumstances. Unfortunately, out of all of our positive experiences in life, the brain for some reason tends to bypass the positive and focus on the past negative experiences.

Even if these feelings are in fact brought on by impending uncertainty in your life, you can rest assured. You may not know what your future holds, but if you know the God of the universe…the One who holds your future in the palm of His hands, you have absolutely nothing to fear. The question remains, do you believe that He is bigger and more powerful than any and all adverse circumstances?

Lord, I thank You that Your Word is trustworthy. It tells me that if I place my trust in You, You will strengthen, help and uphold me. Nothing or no one can thwart the plans that You have preordained for my life.
