For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. – Romans 12:12 (NIV)
Has something been taken from you that is near and dear to your heart? How are you handling the situation? Have you done everything humanly possible to get it back? Have you gone so far as to identify a person as the culprit of your loss?
Although it may appear that you are fighting against an individual, it is important to remember that your true enemy is not a person. There are powers in the spiritual realm that seek to steal things from you in order to rob you of your joy and cause you to doubt God’s power. It is not that we want to believe in these evil forces but we must recognize their existence so that we can take a proactive approach in order to combat them.
Have you tried prayer? The most effective weapon against the enemy’s attack is a humble heart that bows before God in reverence of His immense power, which is far greater than any evil force in the spiritual realm. Many times God allows us to get to the end of ourselves in order for us to get to the beginning of Him. In God’s perfect timing, a shift takes place as we relinquish our attempts to control the situation and fall to our knees in prayer.
Lord, I acknowledge the fact that there are spiritual forces that are alive and active in this world. I thank You that You have provided me with the most unique and effective weapon known to mankind. Today I choose to pick up my weapon of prayer and use it to gain victory over the enemy.
