Beautiful Things

Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. – Genesis 2:7 (NIV)

imagesCAKKFFLTWhat is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about dust? It is generally thought about with a negative connotation. Dust is the one particle that we tend to find little use for. We work tirelessly to rid it from our home environments. Most of us think that the only use for dust is to provide a foundation to walk on.

God on the other hand, looked at the dust and saw great use for it. He took this substance and allowed it to run through His fingers. He worked with it until it took on the shape of a man. He used what is considered lowly and only worthy of trampling under foot to form a masterpiece.

The next time you doubt that your situation can be turned around or you feel that you or someone else is too far gone for God to rescue, consider God’s mighty work on creation day. Out of all of the things that He created, He formed His most intricate work out of dust. Thus, He is capable of taking the chaos in our lives and making beautiful things.

Lord, I thank You that You have the ability to form a beautiful masterpiece from mere dust and to breathe life into that which was lifeless and void. I present to You the things in my life and that of my loved ones that seem too far gone for anything positive to come about. I thank You in advance for a divine turnaround.
