Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. – Psalm 1:1-2 (NIV)
Are you feeling tired and fatigued? Perhaps you wrestled with the idea of remaining in bed and hiding under the covers today. Despite the fact that duty calls, you were plagued with the thought of, “oh no, do I really have to do this again?” Perhaps you lack the energy because you are malnourished.
You may consume some veggies but are not reaping the full benefits because of the way you are preparing them. In haste during the preparation stage, you may be stripping all the nutrients out of them. Since enzymes begin to be destroyed at temperatures above 110-115 degrees, once the veggies are consumed, there are typically no nutrients available for absorption.
Receiving the proper nutrients from the Word of God is quite similar. At times, we read a passage or two in haste, hoping that enough nutrients will be absorbed to sustain us and render us victorious amidst the heat of the challenges that we face throughout the day. Consequently, we experience little to no victory because we are called to be far more intentional. Meditating on the Word beckons that we empty our minds of everything that maligns the Word thus, achieving an altered state of thinking by focusing solely on what God’s Word says about your situation.
Lord, help me to protect my time of solitude with You in order that I may absorb every morsel of nutrient that I need in order to achieve victory over every challenge I am faced with during the day.
