Loosen Your Grip

images[8]Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you. – Psalm 37:5 (NLT)

Is God calling you to release something or someone into His capable hands? What are you holding on to for dear life? Perhaps it is a relationship that is not conducive to your spiritual growth. Perhaps you are living far above your means and can’t fathom the idea of cutting back because you fear that others will treat you as inferior.

The problem with holding too tightly to something or someone whereas, God is calling you to release it, is that there is little wiggle room within your clutched fist, hence that is all it can ever become. As we resist God, our grip tends to get tighter and tighter. Unfortunately, the little that we are trying to preserve generally gets depleted of all oxygen in the confines of our clutch, if you will, and eventually diminishes to null and void in the long run anyway.

As we release it into God’s capable hands, at that very moment, it frees it up to actually be the least that it could ever become. God has the power to breathe a breath of fresh oxygen over your situation. As you place your total trust in the one who is dedicated to working all things out for your good, He will either give back to you as a new and improved product that which you entrusted to Him or He will blow your mind and give you far more than you could ever hope or image.

Lord, give me the strength to trust You with everything so that You can give me newness or breathe renewed life into everything that I hold dear to my heart.
