He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart – Psalm 91:4 (NIV)
Have you allowed your schedule to become so inundated with people to see and things to do, to the point that it has bumped your standing appointment with God right off of your calendar? Perhaps there are things that are overcrowding your schedule that have not even been preapproved by God.
As we allow things and people to take the place of spending alone time with God, we are essentially stepping away from our protective covering. As distance is created between us and God, it makes it virtually impossible for us to hear His directives. Unfortunately, His voice gets so muffled by the noise surrounding us.
A crucial thing to remember is that when we walk away from God’s protective covering, we are left exposed. It gives the enemy legal jurisdiction to attack us. Grant it, there are already enough troubles that come our way simply because we live in a fallen world, let alone compounding onto that because we underestimate how truly desperate we are to remain under the covering of His wings.
Oh Lord, help me to find my way back beneath the shadow of Your wings. I realize that there is absolutely nothing worth the havoc that I experience in my life when I allow things and people to crowd out Your presence.
