Don’t Have All the Answers?

“The LORD our God has secrets known to no one. We are not accountable for them, but we and our children are accountable forever for all that he has revealed to us, so that we may obey all the terms of these instructions. – Deuteronomy 29:29 (NLT)

imagesTYWL6SOKDo you avoid certain people because you don’t have the answers that they desire? Perhaps they are expecting you to have answers that God has yet to reveal to you. Do you fear that they will walk away from you because in their eyes, you don’t have your act together? Perhaps you even fabricate the details merely to appear that you are all knowing.

Unfortunately, as humans, we tend to place unhealthy expectations on one another to have everything all figured out. As we do this, we are demanding that people walk by sight instead of faith, which was never God’s intention. God desires for us to have a holy reverence for Him alone; we should not fear the judgment or abandonment of man. If this is your situation, it is probably time that you reinstate God on His rightful throne in order to gain the confidence to be honest and give a humble response that you are waiting on God to reveal further instructions at His perfectly appointed time.

Nevertheless, it is actually an absolute benefit to us that we don’t have everything all figured out. If we did, there would be no reason to draw near to God. Consequently, most of us would prove to be tyrants if we were totally self-sufficient. In actuality, our lack of self-sufficiency creates healthy boundaries around us to prevent us from running ahead of God and self- destructing.

Lord, I am truly sorry for being fearful that man will walk away from me because I don’t have everything all figured out. Help me to confidently implement the details that you have revealed to me and for the things that you have yet to reveal, be able to simply respond, “I don’t know”. I thank You that I don’t have to be filled with all the answers, I simply must be filled with You, the One who holds all the answers!
