For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. – Ephesians 6:12 (NIV)
You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. – Genesis 50:20 (NIV)
At times do you wonder why everyone is always picking on you? Perhaps you feel as though you have a target on your chest and everyone is aiming their arrows directly at you. Previous to this, you may have even resolved to focus your attention on improving in the area that is under attack and it seems as though people are purposefully seeking you out in order to test you. As you feel that you are doing your part in taking the initiative to change, you may be wondering why God is not doing His part to protect you.
When we are under attack, it is very easy to get wrapped up in what we are experiencing on the surface. Many times we fail to realize that there is a culprit that is behind the scenes moving people like puppets on a string in an attempt to distract us from becoming all that God has planned for us. We must be reminded that we don’t wrestle against flesh and blood but against an enemy who knows what buttons to push in an attempt to send us over the edge emotionally.
The enemy views it as a way to break us down and keep us in a state of defeat. But God…in all His mighty wisdom, sees it as a means to develop our spiritual muscles. Similar to a body builder, whereas concentration is placed on a specific muscle group, intense focus is placed on our area that stands to be improved upon. Stress and strain are placed on the muscle in order to purposefully cause tiny tears. If the process stopped there, it would be extremely unfortunate. Nevertheless, as the tiny tears start to heal, it actually helps the muscle to grow bigger and stronger. Will you surrender the tiny tears from the arrows thrown your way to increase the size of your spiritual muscles?
Lord, thank You for helping me to realize that I am a soldier on a battle field. I realize that attacks are inevitable but more importantly, all that the enemy means for bad, You will take and use it for my good to shape and mold me into a better servant, all for Your glory.
