The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. – Psalm 23:1-3 (NIV)
Do you feel physically, emotionally and spiritually dehydrated? Perhaps as you gaze around, it appears that you are in a dry and weary land. You may even find yourself running around trying to make things happen but the only things transpiring are fatigue and weariness. You may even be wondering why God is not coming to the rescue.
As we scurry about our day trying to reach a specific outcome, even if the vision was put on our hearts by God, if we precede based on human logic, we are sure to wear ourselves out quickly. Human reasoning tells us to mimic everyone else who has been successful in this arena. In holding tightly to this mentality, it discounts God’s desire to connect with and guide us on a very personal level.
How unfortunate it would be if we completed a God-given assignment in record time but end up feeling totally depleted and on the verge of quitting because we failed to remain plugged into Him. He desires for us to bask in His presence where we can remain hydrated and nourished. At which time God is ready to bring His vision to pass through our lives, we are perfectly positioned to get into the water and move according to His flow.
Lord, help me to refrain from running after lofty ideas based on human logic that only proves to wear me out in the process. Thank You that success in carrying out Your purpose and plan for my existence is less about the end product and far more about the relationship that I am developing with You in the process.
