You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. – Psalm 63:1-3 (NIV)
Is it possible that you get so caught up in your well planned out spiritual regimen that you miss the raw experience of fellowshipping with the Lord on a whole new level? Perhaps you have faithfully adhered to reading a specific amount of chapters each day. Perhaps you listen to certain songs because you have been told that that is the way to usher in the presence of the Lord.
Even though it is essential that we read the Word of God on a daily basis, we must make sure that we also carve out time to bask in His presence. If we are not careful, we can get so caught up meeting a certain quota, pronouncing the words just right and singing with just the right tone that we totally miss the whole reason for the regimen in the first place, to know Him and to make Him known.
Just as a newborn craves the feeling of being skin to skin with his mommy, our bodies crave that raw unhindered experience with the Lord. It is important to peel back the layers and clear the slate. As we get to a bare state before the Lord whereas, He is all we have, we will suddenly realize that He is all we need.
Lord, thank You for stripping things and relationships out of my life that were serving as an impenetrable wall that hindered the skin to skin experience with You. I am so grateful that I am now in a position to experience You on a more intimate level.
