There’s Just Something About That Seed

How foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else. But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body. So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. – 1 Corinthians 15:36-38, 42-44 (NIV)

The Lord has been impressing upon my heart that as soon as I get to the end of me and mine, I will get to the beginning of Him and His….a breakthrough is on it’s way”. I have come to realize that each day we sow seeds in our path. If we hold tight to that seed, that is the most it will ever become….a mere seed. Once we exhaust our efforts in trying to make that seed perform in a manner that we see fitting and subsequently come to the end of ourselves, then we are freed up to release the seed into God’s hands with expectancy that it will die and be raised with a newness that only God’s miraculous touch can bring about!

Last night I was afforded the opportunity to attend a Passover Seder Dinner. According to God’s calendar (Exodus 12:2), this month is the first month of the year thus a special offering was collected. The offering represents thanksgiving to God for the promise of an abundant harvest to come. I knew I only had a few dollars to get me through until whenever God chooses to bless me with income. It was tempting to hold on to that seed, but then I was reminded that if I hold on to that seed I would never get to see God perform a miraculous transformation with that seed. Praise the Lord that that seed would have scorched my hand if I would have held on to it any longer!

Lord, thank You for the harvest that is on its way….not merely so that I will have in abundance, but so I can continue to pour out blessings back into His Kingdom!
