Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. – Colossians 3:15 (NIV)
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33 (NIV)
Do you allow your emotions to dictate your decision making process? As we are driven by emotions, it can make us feel claustrophobic and boxed in. Unfortunately, we tend to lash out at anyone whom we presume that is trying to add to that pressure.
Even though emotions are God-given gifts that heighten our ability to truly experience life, it can be quite detrimental when we allow those emotions to serve as the driving force that dictates our actions. Furthermore, we have an enemy who is well aware of the potency of those emotions and uses them to our disadvantage on every possible occasion.
Nevertheless, God does not want us to be led astray by our emotions. He has provided His Word to serve as the anchor that keeps us grounded. In that, when the pressures of life occurrences start to make us feel that our space is limited and the borders all around us are closing in, we will not bow down to emotions but instead, let peace rule in our hearts and declare that God is still in control.
Lord, thank You for peace that is transferred from each stroke of the pen of Your Word and invades every area of my heart and communicates to me that You are fully involved and superior over every situation that I face in life.
