Dispatching God

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. – Matthew 6:6 (NIV)

images[9]Are you tired of the “rat race”, so to speak? Perhaps there is no absolute way you can squeeze one more thing into your schedule but even still, society says that if you want to yield a specific outcome then you must do more. At the end of the day, despite all your accomplishments, the world exclaims that it is never enough.

In fear of failure, perhaps you manage to squeeze one more thing into your schedule. After all, you don’t want to be seen by others as not doing everything in your power to achieve success. All the while, your mind and body are screaming for a reprieve. Even still, in the back of your mind, you know that it is not possible to do everything that is on your agenda with excellence. It is only a matter of time that something has got to give.

Despite the idea that you think you are too busy to pause, it is important to step off of the performance rollercoaster. Nevertheless, if we accomplished absolutely nothing on our agenda, the most important appointment to keep is the one with God. As we carve out time to fellowship with Him, he will impart wisdom to streamline our process as well as give us divine connections in an instant that could have taken us months to build.

Lord, I realize that when I work, I work; but when I pray, You go to work. Thanks for working in the background on my behalf when I put You first.
