“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)
Are you feeling frustrated because there are not enough hours in the day to complete all the task that you have on your agenda? You may be wondering why God has dumped such a heavy load on you. Perhaps your frustration is being felt by those around you. Instead of treating each appointment as a purposeful relational encounter, perhaps you see it as another thing to rush through in order to cross it off of your to do list.
The truth of the matter is that at times God does allow us to get to a place whereas the tasks at hand are more than we can handle on our own. In hindsight, we typically see that coming to the end of ourselves and realizing that we have limitations is a very beautiful destination in which to arrive. It is where we become vulnerable enough to take Jesus’ outreached hand and become yoked with Him so that He can help us carry our load.
Another key element is to analyze the things that are on our agenda and decide if it is a God-ordained assignment. Are we holding true to God’s agenda or are we allowing second rate time wasting activities to push its way into prime time space in our lives? Nevertheless, God was very intentional when He created a 24 hour system and put boundary markers around it calling it a day.
Lord, thank You for hand picking me and giving me a key role in your overall plan for humanity. Thanks for helping me to carry my load. Help me to safeguard my time and protect it against second rate time wasting activities.
