Overcoming Negative Thoughts

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. – 2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV)

Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. – Joshua 1:8 (NIV)

images[7]Do you feel bombarded with negative thoughts? Perhaps you have nursed and entertained these thoughts for quite some time before you actually recognized that these thoughts were not beneficial. Perhaps you have even justified your right to those thoughts because of an unfortunate life experience.

One of the greatest things that we can do is to come to the realization that even though we feel justified to have negative thoughts, we must recognize that they are actually not benefiting us. Negative thoughts are similar to an aggressive cancer; before long it travels throughout the entire body and in no time you become terminally ill. It not only destroys your mind and body but starts to diminish your effectiveness for Christ as well.

Perhaps you have come to a point whereas, you are sick and tired of being sick and tired and are ready to rebel against the control these thoughts have had over your life and witness. In order to do away with the negative thoughts, we must take them as prisoners of war and present them to Christ. Each time the thought attempts to resurface, we must counteract it every time with truth from God’s Word as if we were applying healing balm to a wound.

Lord, thank You for the healing balm in Your Word that is strong enough to overcome any negative thought. I am so excited about gaining victory over my thought life. I am certain that it will redirect my path.
