But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. – Matthew 6:33 (NIV)
Do you find that one particular thing is dominating your thought life as well as your actions? Perhaps it involves a relationship, job, school, finances, ministry, etc. It may have gotten to the point that it is all consuming. It may have even encroached upon your intimate one on one time with God or other spiritual practices that help you to keep everything in its proper perspective.
If every thought and potential action sifts through a filter that determines how it will affect this “elephant in the room”, so to speak, then you have entered a danger zone. The trick of the enemy is to get you to think that if you can just dedicate a bit more time to this issue at hand, then the outcome will be extremely favorable.
Nevertheless, the idea that victory will come with more time and dedication to this issue at hand is the furthest thing from the truth. We must mentally dethrone the person or thing that is consuming our focus and put the crown back on Jesus’ head, the only King of Kings who is worthy of our laser focused attention.
Lord, I am so sorry that I let the cares of this world triumph over the One who cares for me deeper than I could possibly imagine. I commit to shifting my focus back on You and trust that everything else will fall into its rightful place.
