Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a [a]tree”— Galatians 3:13 (NASB)
So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. — John 8:36 (NASB)
Do you battle with overcoming struggles that have been passed down for generations? It may involve an anger issue, alcoholism, an eating disorder, depression, anxiety and the list goes on and on. Perhaps you have tried time and time again to break free from the stronghold. The struggle to break free may have been so intense to the point whereas, you’ve accepted it as something that you will probably struggle with for the rest of your life.
Hence, the word generational precedes the word curse because it attaches to a family with a strong bond, similar to a leech that creates a strong bond when it attaches to the skin. Just as one can apply table salt to remove the leech, the Word of God serves as the spiritual table salt to break the strong bond. As we apply the truth of God’s Word, it not only serves as the salt but also the lubricant that prevents the curse from adhering to our lineage once again.
Nevertheless, it may be an intense struggle that you don’t feel that you have the energy to tackle but it’s important to keep sight of the big picture. If you overcome this in this day and age, everyone in your lineage until Jesus returns has the potential to be free and clear of this struggle. As your eulogy is read, wouldn’t it be great to be remembered as the one who persevered day in and day out by making the right choices and effectively applying the Word so that generations after you could be set free from this issue?
Lord, I thank You that the buck stops here! Thanks in advance for giving me the strength to press in and press on so that the generational curse in my family line will end with me. I’m overjoyed that through the power of your Word and by the power of Jesus’ blood, the curse has been broken.
