The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him. – Psalm 24:1 (NLT)
Are you experiencing wave after wave of unexpected expenses? Perhaps you feel that you are sinking lower and lower in a hole that’s impossible to dig your way out. Just when you think that you’re making headway, something else comes up that puts you further behind than your original state.
Perhaps you’re wondering why God is not coming to your aid. If this is the case, it is important to do some soul searching. We must take an honest assessment and determine the percentage of our funds that we’re actually surrendering to God. Do you dedicate a tithe and then spend the remainder at your own discretion? Are you wanting Him to bless 100% but only seeking His input on how to properly disburse 10%? Even still, your finances may be in such a state of disarray that you’ve declared that it is impossible to tithe.
Nevertheless, it is important to remember that everything belongs to God. What’s in our possession is on temporary loan and we are expected to be good stewards with the sum total, not just the tithe. Even still, if we cling tightly to what’s in our possession that is the most it can become, but if we place it before God, that is the least it can ever become. As we bring the whole amount before God and allow Him to dictate how each dollar should be spent, we will be certain to always have enough to carry out our God-given assignment.
Lord, thank You for the reminder that this life is essentially all about You and carrying out the purpose for which you’ve placed me on this earth. I thank You for the fact that, in You, there is no lack and You will always provide enough for me to carry out my God-given assignment.
