Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. – Psalms 139:7-10
Ok parents…it’s ok to cry as you watch your baby going off to school. I think it is an emotional time for most parents whether your baby is 5 and going to kindergarten or 20 and going off to college. In case you didn’t know, it is said that there are actual health benefits to crying. Among many benefits, it helps to remove some of the hormones bottled up in the body due to stress.
I have always heard the term separation anxiety spoken of but really wanted to understand the root cause for the emotion. For many of us, I think it goes much deeper than just not wanting to see our baby growing up. It certainly has nothing to do with us just not wanting them to learn and get a good education. It has a great deal to do with them not being under our protective covering 24/7. We are well aware of the negative influences out there. We simply don’t want them to be exposed to those negative influences. Also, our hope is that they won’t be subject to the authority of an ungodly teacher.
At a time like this, I look to the Word to draw hope from one of my faith siblings. Moses’ mom definitely stands out to me in this instance. By faith, she took the necessary steps to prepare her baby boy before she put him in a basket and placed it among the reeds in the NileRiver. I’m sure many thoughts must have raced through her head about some sea creature devouring him or the basket tipping over and him falling out and drowning. Nevertheless, she did her part and trusted God to take care of the rest.
Lord, I ask You to grant my child favor even if he or she is subject to the authority of an ungodly teacher. Thank You for being the best role model as a parent. I have followed your lead in preparing and training my child on how a child of the King should behave. I trust and believe Your Word that states that no matter where they are, You have them under 24/7 surveillance.
