Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. – Philippians 1:6 (NIV)
Would you agree that it takes less energy to go against God’s will than it does to submit to his plan? Most of the time when we go against God’s will it is because there is a thought process that takes place in our minds that sends a message to convince our extremities that the body just does not have the energy, drive or desire to carry out His appointed task. When we go against His will, we are basically allowing our flesh to conquer the spirit man that lives within us.
As we nonchalantly go against God’s will, even though we are ready to move on, God does not move on and simply forget what He purposes to accomplish through us. I have come to realize that He does not give us an exemption just because we don’t “feel like it” or find it too hard to carry out His will. As was the case in my calling as a teenager to get a degree in the field of psychology, I allowed life to happen and dictate my path off course. Being the gentlemen that He is, He allowed me to make those poor choices. Now 20 plus years later I am back at the same crossroads. Only this time I have so many more obstacles.
Nevertheless, it is definitely a blessing that God does not abandon His dream. It just amazes me how He chooses to include us, as mere humans, to play a part on stage in His show. If that were not enough, He is gracious enough to give us a second chance if we miss the first casting call. Just what does this Mighty God see in us that cause Him to have hope in us even when we appear to be a hopeless case? Thanks be to God that He sees Jesus in our place as being worthy in order to continue to pursue His will through us.
Lord, first of all I want to ask for forgiveness for not trusting You enough to walk in obedience during Your first casting call. I want to thank you for faithfully pursuing me so that your purpose could be accomplished in and through my life. Thank you for the privilege of allowing me to play a role in Your overall eternal plan.
